The galerie Blanche was pleased to present a selection of twenty works, collected under the title Blanc de mémoire, from June 14 to 30, 2013.

Have you ever observed under the bark of a piece of wood, complex and refined beauty of this network of tunnels dug by ants? It is their work that has fascinated and challenged Laurent Viens engraver, sculptor and painter. The outbreak ... The artist then swapped the brush to a circular saw, canvas for plywood, and engraved, carved and painted series of bas-reliefs that combine power and delicacy, raw energy and fine sensitivity, intensity and subtlety. What makes jealous ants!

Painting and sculpture exhibition at Galerie Blanche in Montreal

• CORPORATE EVENT: Live art production at Astral Affichage’s launch event thrown by Groupe Astral Media at Montreal’s Bell Center. The completed art piece is now on display in the Astral Media building. 

• FUNDRAISING EVENT : At a fundraising event staged at ING’s Montreal Headquarters, Laurent created an art piece sold through a silent auction. All proceeds were accredited to the Club des Petits Déjeuners.

• IMPROVISATION ON PERCUSSIONS: Showcased at art[o] in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, this event was Laurent’s first important live improvisation before an audience of artists and art collectors who were blown away and astounded during the 60-minute ad-lib.                                                               

• BENEFIT AUCTION : From time to time, Laurent participates in benefit auctions raising funds for the Écomusée du fier monde as means to finance the Montreal organization and its affiliated work. 

• TRAINING AND MENTORING : Laurent has taught an Art Awareness and Appreciation Workshop at Marie-Derome Elementary School. The workshop was so creative and kids so expressive that it took a group cleaning session to wash off the art from all walls and floors. 

• SYMPOSIUMS: Laurent takes part in some regional art symposiums and offers a Graffiti Workshop during the Symposium d'art de Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu.

• COMMERCIAL SHOWS: For the first time, the URBANIA series was showcased during the SIDIM show. The response was immediate and very positive and Laurent Vien’s booth, one of the most noticed and appreciated booths of the show.

• BLANC DE MÉMOIRE : Summer 2013, Painting and sculpture exhibition at Galerie Blanche in Montreal.

• RENAISCENDRES, December 2012, Two opening events were orchestrated to present the embossed and hand-enhanced paper canvas series : one at Encadrex in Montreal, the other during the artist’s new workshop inauguration in Pike River.

  Spring 2012, presentation of the Urbania series during this major design show at Place Bonaventure in Montreal.
